 Scientists at ZFI realize that a healthy environment benefits everyone. A healthy environment helps protect Florida’s unique ecosystems, such as wetlands and estuaries, and the flora and fauna that inhabit them. A healthy environment is also good business. Algal blooms can adversely affect the value, aesthetics, and uses of a lake. Soil and water contamination can devalue real estate. In addition, landowners may be required to pay the high price of remediation. ZFI scientists and engineers use their in-depth interdisciplinary knowledge of hydrology, geology, chemistry, land use, and remote sensing to identify environmental concerns before they become problems.
